A dog mum's guide to the best dog parks in Knutsford Cheshire, from quieter, enriching parks, to those most popular with other dog owners and families.

Knutsford is a beautiful historic town with many great dog walking spots. From the popular Moor to lesser known, quiter spots, this blog is designed to help you find the perfect dog walk for you and your dog.
As a dog owner with a reactive dog, I understand the difficulty of finding a quiet spot to walk your dog in a dog friendly town. You can use the ratings below to discover which park fits you and your dog best.
I have rated each park out of five (🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕) based on criteria such as how popular it is with other dog owners and whether it is wheelchair friendly, to help you decide which park is most suitable for you.
Located just a stones-throw from the high street, the Moor is a popular Knutsford attraction. Many people walk their dogs here, so there is a chance to meet other dog owners. With a lake featuring ducks and swans at one end, and woodland at the other, the park boasts natural beauty and plenty to explore. In the centre of the park is open grassland where you can let your dog off the lead to have a run. The childrens playpark is popular with families and there are many other dogs running around, so bear this in mind if your dog is reactive or anti-social. Look instead at my suggestions of Barncroft and Wallwood below.

Wallwood is located at the top of King Street, opposite the main entrance to Tatton Park. It is a small, triangular-shaped, woodland (just 0.7 acres). If you're looking to give your dog a good run, this is likely not the spot for you, but it it could suit a dog in need of a slow sniffy walk. The park is home to a bug hotel and mature woodland, providing good sniffing opportunities for your dog. There are ample benches to sit and enjoy your surroundings, and as it is never too busy, it is a peaceful place to relax.

Tatton park is an expansive estate with over 1,000 acres of parkland. There are many fields and woodland walks to explore, with views over the lakes and a mansion. While many dog owners visit the park frequently, due to the vastness of the landscape, it is easy enough to find a spot of your own.
Due to the amount of deer roaming the park, as of this year, you must keep dogs on lead until July 2025. Please note Tatton Park is closed on Mondays.

Barncroft is located behind St. Cross Church Park and can be accessed via the moor, by entering through a short tunnel. It is often referred to as a "hidden gem" in Knutsford. It comprises of two fields, lined with trees and houses, and provides a much quieter spot to walk your dog when compared to the Moor and Heath park. During the spring and summer, a section of the park is left to overgrow and transforms into a beautiful meadow. The meadow contains a variety of wildflowers and grasses and attracts wildlife including butterflies. This is one of my favourite spots for reactive dogs as there are plenty of areas for them to sniff and explore, away from the business of town life.

Knutsford Heath is on the edge of Knustford and is open all year. The central heathland area features wavy grass and is a perfect place to let your dog burn off some energy. As is given, please ensure your dog has good recall if you do choose to let them off. Alternatively, a long-line or extension lead can allow your dog to have more freedom, while providing a safety net.
Please note that during the May Day festival, part of the park is sectioned off for rides and activities related to the fair, however there are still quiet woodland areas you can explore during this time.

Cross Town Community Orchard is fully enclosed, dog friendly and open to the public. It provides a safe place for your dog to explore and features collection of fruit trees cared for and shared by the local community. Why not take your dog for a stroll and grab a pear or apple?
